Synthetic strings (Sugar bio-plastic)

Our Hurdy Gurdy synthetic strings, as well as the wound strings, are made with a recently discovered bio-plastic material that we call “Sugar”, being derived from sugar-cane plant.

The sound of these strings is clearly brilliant, clean and prompt, very similar to that of gut strings. Another important feature of this material is its characteristic sustain, which by scientific measurements has revealed to be superior both to Nylon and gut strings.

Although the surface is extremely smooth, the grip is remarkable and therefore they start vibrating easily under the wheel.

Moisture absorption is 100 times lower than Nylon strings.

The density of our Sugar material is the same of gut, so even the gauges are the same.

The Sugar polymer assures high acoustic performances, long life and stability, even with sudden climate changes.
