D Violon strings in lamb gut

The use of whole lamb gut, rather than strips, is not only entirely adherent to traditional Italian string-making practices, but also results in strings with superior acoustic and mechanical characteristics, as compared to common strings made from strips of beef or sheep gut.
HU strings have a surface that is only polished to the minimum extent necessary to ensure that the string is not false; the string is then lightly oiled. The standard length is 120 cm up to a diameter of 1.90 mm. From a diameter of 2.00 mm, the standard length is 180 cm only.

If you prefer to arrange your set by selecting the precise diameters you can add the single strings from the tables below, where the recommended diameters are shown. An increase in diameter corresponds to an increase in tension.

If, on the other hand, you prefer to choose any of the diameters freely, we recommend you to go to the full list of unsplit lamb gut “HU” strings and close wound “FU” strings (in pure silver).
